Within the valley, Ellenville is also near the intersection of Sandburg Creek and Beer Kill Creek, where they join to become Rondout Creek.
 
Ellenville is part of the town of Wawarsing, along with around 22 other communities, including Spring Glen, Laurenkill, Napanoch, Wawarsing hamlet, Soccanissing, and Kerhonkson. This town is located in the western portion of Ulster County.
